ALAIRAC

Picturesque village on the outskirts of the Malepère Massif, Alairac dominates the plain that is dissected by the Canal du Midi. The ancient forest of the Massif is full of mushrooms & wild flowers. Vines & cereals grow well in this fertile soil. Alairac possesses a rich historical & architectural heritage, & is a magnificient round village : Rond Saint Germain, a church dating from the beginning of the 13th century with a norman church tower & a very beautiful gothic porch.

At the Crossroads of the Four Paths, borne 12 (kilometre-marker/milestone), or at the Mont Naut, the panoramic view points are, in particular, la Piège, the Carcassonne plain, the High Valley of the Aude & the Pyrenées in the background.

VILLARZEL-DU-RAZES

One of the points of interest in this hillside village is its 16th century château & its cul de lampe towers. It is also a starting point for ramblers.
